Nimbus for the House. 2005

Kuhmalahti is a village near the city of Tampere, where the local pastor’s house was bequeathed to Finnish artists. In an ironic gesture, the artist reinterpreted the phenomenon of genius loci. Often, the trace left behind holds greater significance than the current state; it is the memory of what once was that imbues the new with profound, sometimes sacred, meanings. These layered meanings then shape and subordinate all subsequent narratives connected to the place.
