Vitaly Pushnitsky’s book, created as a unique hybrid of the artist’s book and autofiction genres, marks the debut of Denis Khimilyayne’s publishing program. This volume features nearly 200 images from the graphic series Occam’s Razor — a long-term visual study and documentation of harmonic states inspired by masterpieces of the old masters. Each image, presented as a dissected postcard, is given a plastic context through accompanying photography and reflective texts that delve into the philosophy of memory, the notion of quality in art, and the phenomenon of time.
Alongside Pushnitsky’s essay outlining his methodological approach to studying composition, the book includes contributions by three prominent Russian art historians: Sergey Popov, Irina Terentyeva, and Gleb Ershov. The book stands as a notable addition to contemporary art discourse — both a philosophical treatise and an educational tool combined with a public dialogue.
Designed by Dima Barbanel of DesignWorkout, the book itself becomes an art object — imagine owning an entire exhibition preserved on your shelf. Bound in hardcover, it invites thoughtful reading and features as a scholarly reference for future research.
